Moving Mountains Through Prayer
“But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” Matthew 17:21 (Read Matthew 17:14-24 today)
Years ago I remember my son Dawson (who was 5) and Madi (Pjeff’s daughter) playing next to my house. They were talking about moving our golf cart, because it was in the way of them playing. I smiled as they confidently discussed how they were just going to “push it out of their way” so they could play.
I watched as they dug their heels in, got nice and low….and nothing. They tried again, this time squinting their eyes to give them extra strength. Nothing. Then they agreed they would try one more time, with all their might.
But this time, I came up above them, and secretly gave a little push….and off the thing went right out of the way! Boy you should have seen their eyes gaze at each other at their newfound strength!
Until they looked up and saw me smiling. We all laughed.
I can’t help but think that our good Father loves doing this in our lives when we show great faith. When we buckle down in faithful prayer, God always does some real effective work!
In our passage the disciples had trouble casting this demon out, not because they didn’t believe God, but rather that they might not have had enough of God working through them.
In Ephesians 3:20 Paul says “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.”
Whatever it is you have been praying for in the last 17 days, God can do immeasurably more in our lives because it’s “HIS power at work in us.”
Our time of fasting allows the Holy Spirit to do a great powerful work in us. Have you felt Him working here at Lifecoast? Worship has been powerful. God’s messages have been transformational. God is moving!
So as you feel God doing a work in and around you, and your faith is strengthened, are you asking for God to do something MORE than you would normally not even dream about?
Maybe…. a miracle?
During these last few days of the fast – while we’ve been experiencing the power of God at work in us, begin asking for things you know only He can do. Ask Him for miracles.
We’ve seen Him do miracles before, so ask Him to “Do It again!” for HIS glory.
Pray for those in our own body who are sick.
Pray for those trying to kick addiction!
Pray for those around you who do not believe in Jesus.
Pray for miracles!
Dig your spiritual heels down hard like Dawson and Madi – and Believe and Pray!
You might just see God push really big golf carts right out of your way!
Or maybe even a Mountain in your life! (Luke 17:6)
